Rice Kheer | Rice Pudding | How to make Rice Kheer

Kheer is a delectable Indian dessert which is made from full cream milk, rice, dry fruits and sugar along with other toppings to add more flavor on it. It is thick, creamy and rich in texture that leaves everyone asking for some more. This traditional dessert recipe needs no introduction and you can add your own twist to this recipe as per your palate preference. Kheer has always been a part of Indian culinary heritage, so much so that every Indian Thali has one or the other variant of kheer. Rice Kheer was usually prepared on special occasions and rituals like Diwali, weddings & birthdays etc. We bet your kids and family will love this dessert recipe. Here’s how you can prepare this delicious kheer by following a few simple steps and surprise your loved ones with your cooking skills.

Ingredients: 

  • 5 Liter Full Cream Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Rice – Washed And Soaked For Half An Hour
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar Or As Per Your Taste
  • 10-12 Raisins
  • 10-12 Almonds – Shredded
  • 10-12 Cashew – Shredded
  • 10-12 Pistachio (Unsalted)– Shredded
  • 1 Tablespoon Chironji
  • 4 Green Cardamoms
  • A Few Rose Petals And Strands Of Saffron/Kesar For Garnishing
  • 1 Tea Spoon Ghee

Method:

1.Boil the rice and milk in a deep pan.

2.Simmer over low flame, stirring occasionally till the rice is cooked and the milk becomes thick so that rice and milk do not separate while serving.

3.When done add sugar, stir till sugar gets dissolved properly.

4. Now heat the ghee in a pan and roast the Almonds, pistachio, Cashews, Chironji & Resins.

5. Make the fine powder from the cardamoms and mix it well on Kheer/Pudding, so its flavor get absorbed properly.

6.Serve hot or chilled as you like.
