Palak Pakoda Recipe | Crispy Spinach & Potato Fritters| How To Make Palak Pakora

This is an interesting pakora recipe that combines the vibrant color of gram flour spinach and the exciting crunch of onions & fulfilling potatoes with a dash of spices for flavor. A must try recipe for beginners in cooking or anyone who loves cooking. If served with Indian masala tea, these Palak Pakoras will add more flavor to your taste buds.

Ingredients:

  • 10-20 Medium Size Whole Spinach Leaves (washed)
  • 2 Medium Size Onion, Finely Sliced
  • 2 Medium Potatoes (Cut into thin slices & washed)
  • 1 medium bowl Besan /Chick Pea Flour
  • Salt – To Taste
  • 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • ¼ Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ Tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
  • ¼ Tsp Ajwain (Carom Seeds)
  • ¼ Tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Chopped coriander leaves
  • Water to make batter
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • Oil For Deep Frying

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients into a large bowl except spinach, potato and onions.
  2. Add water in small quantity to make a fine batter and it should not be too runny or too thick then stir it well till all the ingredients are mixed evenly.
  3. Add potato, onions slices into it and when all the potato and onion slices are coated well with this batter add spinach leaves onto the mixture and mix with light hands so that spinach leaves are not scrambled.
  4. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. When oil is nice and smoky hot, pick a slice of potato along with 1 or 2 spinach leaves and a few onion slices and drop it into the hot oil.
  5. Similarly drop the rest of the pakoras into the oil. & deep fry them on medium flame until they turn golden color on all sides.
  6. Take them out and drain them on absorbent paper & serve hot with green chutney or ketchup of your choice.
